Centenary Celebration Church Service
On Sunday 26th February the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress Councillor and Mrs Frank Leeming with Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Leaders, parents, former members and friends packed St Mary's Church, Chaddesden for a service to celebrate the founding of the 27th Derby (Chaddesden) Scout Group 100 years ago.
The Group was started in 1912 by Miss Constance Wilmot of Chaddesden Hall. The Vicar of St Mary's the Reverend Allis-Smith was the first Scout Master.
The present Vicar, the Reverend Wayne Stillwell took the service. Gill Howarth and Chris Wood with members of all the sections presented an audio-visual potted history of the Group. Please see here for a copy of the presentation.
The address was given by The Reverend David Shaw, a former member of the Group, who came up from Dorset for the occassion.
